Just another country song...

Poem Artwork

Shooting Star

His old worn out black Stetson

Hangs lonely on a peg up on the wall

His Gibson six string sits in the corner

Now it seems it’s never played at all

Dusty pictures on the bookshelves

Little captured moments of another time

His empty glass by the computer

Next to half a bottle of moonshine

He fell asleep alone again last night

With words he just couldn’t seem to find

Looking for that perfect hurting song

That kept running through his mind

Chorus:

He used to be the local shining star

Played the honkey-tonks show up in his  fancy car

Pretty girls would chant his name

And everyone all said he’d go real far

Yet the booze and age finally took it’s toll

Now he’s just another burned out shooting star

Years and whiskey took its toll on him

The gigs and offers finally just ran out

He wasn’t meant to make it to the big time

Which was all he ever dreamed about

In his mind he’s down in Nashville

His one word name on people’s lips

Even bigger than George Canyon

Smiling on all those fancy video clips

Fee, this Wow!
I hear this echoing in the halls!
I have to share this with Paul too :)
I started months ago (Stevie Nicks or Heart style), to write music and thinking of giving it a go again, soft romantic Rock *Maybe I will drag my journal out, you seem to tempt me lately... or I write Romatic Country, Lori Morgan style or the Judds!
I would love to hear you sing this!

And so it is for so many who aspire to fame and fortune. In the end, the oyster ends up to be void of the pearl and the lonely nights and the could-have-beens find their peace in the bottom of a whiskey glass. Wonderful work, Felix!
Take care,
Sherry

Yep, that's right. These days you got to have a fancy video clip to go with your song or they don't want it. What ever happen to just taking the words to the song and seeing it your own way. Must be our age showing. Lady J

Not bad - though I'd like the feel of a little more personality rather than just a generic has-been...(grin)

A great country song, depicting a side of life too true to many of us. Not all are destined to hit the top. Loved it. Victor

Fee, I think that's a pretty good
country tune in the making. I wish
I had the knack to write music, but
it's tough to do. Great!!
