Memories For Sale
By: Fee
I reach out for…what love used to be
Wish I’d known…what I couldn’t see
Our faded picture…in a dusty frame
Her smiling face…still looks the same
Sixties music…eight track tape case
Brings back memories…time can’t erase
A box full of dishes…pink rose design
How I wish…they could have been mine
She just got tired…of waiting alone
Then she met a man…who took her home
I read the news…her Momma wrote
And inside from her…a little note
Oh please come home…I still love you
She said her heart…inside was true
My foolish pride…got in the way
Now I’ll cry my tears…the price I pay
They say he beat her so…that final night
That now she basks…in Heaven’s light
Beside the boxes…alone sitting on a chair
A ragged stuffed Teddy…won at a fair
I remembered what…she said that night
Holding our Teddy…will keep you near
I bought the picture…and that ragged bear
Yard sale memories…of what was before
God it hurts…that she’s not here no more
This poem yanks on the heartstrings. Memories can hurt just as easily as they make us smile. Beautiful work on this one!

This poem, with its heart-wrenching memories, is so moving, but the sight of the bear puts an aching exclamation point on it all!
If this is really your personal memory, God bless you and give His peace. We all have regrets. Hopefully, it is your empathetic poet's heart feeling the pain for someone else's memories.

Truly, though, it has a great twist. Not at all where my mind was going. And the layout literally had me reading to the cadence of my breaths.
You guided not only my mind but my very body on this piece.

This one hurts: what might have been. Sad reality for far too many. Poignancy, well penned. :(

Beautiful poem my friend. I'd dare not sell memories such as that for the world. They should be enshrined. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.
