Walking In Your Shoes

By: Fee

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

Got blisters from the pain

Wondered if I’d find my way

Stumbling over rough terrain

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

Scuffed from dirt and rocks

Like a stranger in a strange land

Not even a pair of socks

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

I know you feel so alone

Like you will never love again

Your heart is doomed to roam

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

They leaked when it rained

Teardrops ran in and out

So little seemed to be gained

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

So cold I thought I’d die

Feeling lost and all but forgotten

I would hang my head and cry

I’ve walked a mile in your shoes

But one day the sun began to shine

A Rainbow made me smile a little

Things started to look fine

Now I walk on a beach barefoot

Let the waves soothe my heart

Someday you’ll find the right path

Just take a step and you will start…

Very true - we have all loved and lost at some point (atleast I think) and there is a brighter sky through all the rain. Well said. Thank you for sharing dear Fee.

Such grace, compassion and wisdom, as we always know to expect from you, Darlin. You are a man of the world and yet a man of great personal intimacy and private depths as well. You always reach in and associate with others' pain from the richness of your own breadth of experience and the embrace of your own soul. It is often the hidden bonds that are the deepest and which suffer the greatest sense of loss. You plumb the emotional depths as always. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

Sometimes, just someone saying "I know" and being able to believe it is the most helpful thing in the world.
And you say it so well, Fee.

Fee,
I think at one time or another all of us have felt this way. Time heals all. We never forget, but in time, the sun shines again, you hear the birds sing, things always get better. It just takes time. Another awesome write, my friend.

Blessings,
~Linda

Some of us have walked with many other's shoes, the trick is to say to them that we understand and that they can shed a tear without caring who is looking, because they aren't alone...that's what this poem said.
Very good Fee.

Wise words from a compassionate and caring friend who's encouragement is ever needed and opinions readily taken; however your talking to a gal who walked so far down the wrong road her feet disappeared! So now I want you to write a funny poem about walking on your hands! Cheers, Deborah:)
