I just returned from visiting my dear cuz and everyone's friend here on the den Rose. While there her and her husband took us to the National War Museum of Canada and I cannot tell you how choked up I was by the time we finished the tour. So many sacrifices so little thanks, then after reading Georg's brilliant ku this morning this write was the result...for you Georg and all the veterans in all the countries who opose tyranny...

Young Uniforms Of War

By: the son of a soldier

Walk through the fields of fire and smoke

not the manicured White House lawns

so save and sound

Wade through the mud of foreign trenches

while you duck the whining bullets

 round by round

See the teenage soldier’s graves of Flanders

or Normandy beaches where the

soldier’s ghosts abound

Explore the young tombstones of Korea

where too many kids left there

Lifeblood all around

Sail across the shipping lanes

where sailors breached a sea

that was never safe and sound

Perhaps you prefer the hell infested

climate of Vietnam where men

fought above and below ground

Can you relate than to the deserts

Where women shared the battlefield

pound for pound

Lets not forget home guard action

where terrorists fears our life’s

now seem to surround

So put aside your café latte and get off your padded chair

Go visit your local War Museum see the sacrifices there

Or go see the war memorials with names chiselled deep

Look around at the survivors and see the tears they weep

We owe everything and so much more

To the those young uniforms of war…

A very moving write my friend, we visited the war memorial at our local park this week, they serve as a much needed reminder of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom...well done!

Pound for pound, this poem fights more than it's own weight, darlin, and makes the heavyweight of my arse on this padded cushion feel very uncomfortable. I don't mean to sound flip. Each and every tribute I have been privileged to read and share in adds to my feelings of both remorse and gratitude. We should be hugging trees AND tombstones. Thank you for this impassioned resume of global struggle and personal cost. Bless you, Pops. Kate xx

Very powerful and eye-opening, Fee! The last two lines say ever-so-much. We will always owe brave soldiers a debt. I recently spoke to someone who was in Vietnam. It was an honor to listen. Love and Hugs.

I did just that this weekend dear Fee. Tracing the Vietnam wall in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico landing my finger on my mother's younger brother Johnny. Only 19 when he passed away. I salute all who have sacrificed for the freedom I have to drink that latte in peace. Thanks for the reminder. Well Done, Deborah

An outstanding statement from your heart, Fee.
Yes, "We owe everything and so much more
to those young uniforms of war..."
How sad we are now contributing to their numbers this day...

This is spot on Fee, we each have one in our capitol cities, it does us good, is sobering and necessary in this world....far too many of the young have no regard these days for anything above hedonism.
Hugs to yah

Very stark truths here Sweet Fee!
I too have been to a War and Air Museum and tears followed! I felt down and sad and this was on vacation, but I felt a healing taking place, knowing I cared to be there! as many were there with children! I still have the picts. That I found hard to take...
Thank you for writing this much needed poem, of so many hurting, sharing and giving of themselves/etc.

Wonderful advice, my friend. We should also be visiting their many gravesites, and visiting those in veteran and soldier hospitals. And not one of us, should ever forget their sacrifice.

The incredible poet in you shines through in this tribute to those of all nations who have taken on the burdern of war to ensure our continued freedom. I, too, honor those who have endured the battles and who have lost their lives.

God bless you. Kathy

Thanks Fee, your words are to be keep in my library, to remind me that no all men and not all women have feebles memory, and I am sure they are saying thanks, the ones that never came back, and the broken bones Veterans but with not a broken spirit or regret for what they offered.
That silence will be not the sound of remembrance, lets hear Nations, for once, give them the Hurrah! they so much deserve.
Thanks for include me.
