I was looking around and scouring my mind for inspiration to write about tonight, when I realized the poem was right in front of me...

Poppy’s Song

By: Poppy

A Crayola masterpiece drawn of Poppy

JLee said it’s me out in my workshop

She lovingly added Scooby Doo stickers

Then up on my knee for a hug she has to hop

Then there’s an ink sketch done by Lily

She said Poppy it’s you on your computer

I think as those big brown eyes look up at me

This little girl couldn’t get any cuter

And there’s sea shells from the seashore

Dried animal shapes made from “Playdo”

And a well thumbed book on my bookshelf

Filled with children’s songs” I have to know

And I hope the next few years are good to me

That I be allowed to watch them as they grow

Now little Patrick he’s just two years old

My little man who loves his dinky toys

Then baby Isobel whose smile lights a room

Grandkids are truly one of life’s great joys…

Fee--Having spent the last few days with one of my grandsons, I relate so well to your sentiments.
They may not be the fountain of youth but surely our reason for hanging around a few more years.
Some trophies are truly treasures.
Love this.
