Welcome to the Town of Dying Dreams

By: Fee

By the frothy shores of the Sea of Hopelessness

Where the old Forlorn River winds it’s way

Live the fairy tale characters and comic book heroes

In a town called Dying Dreams they all come to stay

No, you won’t see too many happy smiling faces

No artificial love is sold at the five & dime

But you can buy used teardrops sold as bottled water

And of course holding hands is such a major crime

It’s a place where all us broken hearted losers

Go to look for solace maybe from a glowing screen

Or sit to drink the town’s barroom poison potion

Trying to drown out all the hurt we’ve ever seen

The town’s upside down clock races down to midnight

Someone mumbles Cinderella you’re a such a slut

The Leering Joker tries to feel up a drunken Batgirl

While John Wayne drags on a glowing marijuana butt

Yea in this little dingy little town of Dying Dreams

Resides my broken heart and all too shattered mind

Where I live on whiskey mixed with watered tears

Since you left and left my love behind…

This captures what lost love and lost dreams are all about, it is what is left of them that really count. We must learn from what has happened and try our best the next time around. Wonderful poem, Fee, as always.

Agree with this write. Things have gotton so bad at times. Here the streets roll up with darkness. Noone likes to go outside too much or stroll the streets. Once and I while I let out all my frustrations too. Am with you all the way with this write.

But off into the forbade horizon
gazing upon the land of a far
I seen a statuesque woman riding
or perhaps she was driving a car
none the less I had seen her
and the colors of her hemesphere
a chromatic change was comin to town
and it was her vision oh so very clear
she was the rider without a frown
she held her faith of hope as a badge
and courage was her flag of might
she came to give glory abound
so that we could soon see the light

"...but you can buy used teardrops sold as bottled water..." Oh boy! what the heck are you doing wandering in the corridors of dark dungeons where the stone walls show the scars after the broken nails of past ghosts which tried to write one more last poem...?
Exellent my friend, you will scare the pants off of some, but, excellent! ! !

Fee,
Perhaps I have a dark sense of humor, but I really enjoyed this poem. I love the creativity of the clock and the invented downfall of beloved heroes. LOL. Love and Hugs,

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone
