Fathers and Daughters
You know there’s a special kind of magic
In being a Daddy to a little girl of his own
No matter how quick or how many years go by
She’ll always be his little girl all alone
In his eyes the years won’t ever age her
She always be the little girl with a goofy grin
He‘ll always be the one to kiss her boo boos
The one to comfort her heart from within
She’ll be the little girl taking her first steps
The laughing voice asking Daddy one more time
The skinny kid trying to ride that bike
The little school play actress memorizing her line
She’ll be what all his memories are made of
The shelter from the times he spent alone
She won’t even know how much she meant to him
When she was far, far away from home
She is his pride and bragging rights to all who’ll listen
His secret solace when his own times are tough
Just her voice in a phone call or a unexpected visit
To know she took the time when time there never is enough
Of course someday he has to pretend to share her
To another he’ll walk her down the aisle to meet
He’ll smile and wish them both best of wishes
Though inside his heart will be laying at his feet
Until that man and his little girl says Dad
We have some special news to tell you…something new
You’re going to soon be a grandfather
You’ll have a little Poppy’s girl it’s true …
What beautiful familia pictures always so lovely to see.
The two daddy's baby girls such a treasured memory then, now
and always.
Priceless sending continued love and blessings your way,
All the best Gwendolyn

If you read each ones lines in its entirity, then the second, and so on, nothing escapes. I love this type of poetry, write it meself. Who is to say each line/thought should be read numerically?
Also, any negatives are self-held, such as 'Of course someday he has to pretend to share her', where the reader understands Dad understands, and accepts. Such a sweet joy, continuing family.
I have to smile, and feel good, feeling good with your happiness within your words and images, Felix. Thank you.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
That photo says a lot, and this poem tells of your father's love for your daughter Wanda. It reminded me of the song "Sunrise, Sunset" and the lines..."Is this the little girl I carried...is this the little boy at play, I don't remember growing older, when did they?"
You wrote your heart into this lovely poem, it is so lovingly written.
