I missed you the moment I met you

I cherished each moment we spent

Hours seemed to fly by like seconds

As we’d wonder where the time went

If time is a memory in the making

You gave me the best of what’s mine

For each day shared was a memory

Plucked from the bandits of time

Life ticks away in a constant circle

Yet love sees not the ticking old clock

An hour or two can feel like a heartbeat

When lover’s first hold hands for a walk

A few short days can seem like forever

When the one you love is not there

The ticking of the clock is a torture

That teardrops and loneliness share

I’ll leave my watch on the dresser

Take down the old clock off the wall

Tune out the news and the weather

I don’t need any reminders at all

For the absence of loving is lonely

And without you I’ve mislaid my time

Today will just drift into tomorrow
