I think no matter how old we get we all sometimes feel the urge to just pack it in and hit the road to see what lies ahead...the picture triggered the muse into helping me with this one for sure.
PS: Didn't have chance to try this on guitar so if anyone wants to play with it be my guest.

The Last Roll of the Dice

By: Fee

Lately I feel like I’ve been climbing

Up an escalator going down

Or that I’m always trying to catch up

On some old time merry-go-round

And the white line on the highway

Lately seems to call my name

I think it must be my turn soon

To roll those travellin’ dice again

If I tried taking one step forward

Mr. Fate sent me two steps back

This load of mines getting heavier

And I keep running out of track

And the white line on the highway

Lately seems to call my name

I think it must be my turn soon

To roll those travellin’ dice again

If snake eyes are the answer

I’ll sit me down and cry

But if lucky seven comes eleven

I’ll spread my wings and fly

Yes if seven comes eleven

I’m gonna spread my wings and fly

And the white line on the highway

Lately seems to call my name

I think it must be my turn soon

To roll those travellin’ dice again (twice and fade out)

Fee, I think that there are times in life when we all feel that sense of "restlessness."

I hit the road when first we bought this motorhome, fortunately gas prices were at an all time low, 89.9 per gallon, never see that again, but the call of the road still gets to me every now and then so I know the feeling...Ed

Fee, nice bit of writing... don't you think poets are always looking for a chance to roll the dice, looking for the next word, phrase, or deep and lovely thought. And those are the things that send us down the never ending road.

Cheers,
Dan

Felix, this is so accomplished I can hear it being sung in my head... and I don't even know the tune! This is so true to country blues and if Jim Reeves was alive today he'd be beatin a path to your door. You just keep gettin better and betterer in every department. PLEASE honour us with a wav-file of this... pretty please?! xx

Nicely done. Very vivid. I recently stepped off at the top of that escalator, but one day I expect to roll those dice again.

For one that just packed and hit the road a few times, this poem calls for a few recollections, like hearing the deep bass voice of the Harley growling to me about holding to that highway white line...
