On Growing Old and Love
Will you walk with me a little longer
On this path once scented by the rose
Fragrant purple lilacs used to flourish
Now it seems to me that nothing grows
Remember when the birds sang gaily
While rabbits played hide and seek
Sometimes we’d have a little picnic
On Clover Hill above Sawmill creek
We’d kiss dreaming of our tomorrows
Unknowing the future soon slips away
Making love was a magic youth elixir
We never knew their was a price to pay
We’d smile picking sky cloud images
Father Time kept silent or so it seemed
Perhaps he was kinder than we thought
He let us share what we had dreamed
Ah, but…
Age robs away our smiling youth
Leaves but golden memories to show
But true love seeded grew eternal
On that garden path so long ago...

Even in its sadness, this posting is beautifully stirring in its truth. And I love it.

This is true. It's wonderful growing old with someone you love. But it's funny, I used to think 60 was old, ..things do change as you age. Beautiful poem.

This beautiful poem touched my heart; eternal love, filled with so many memories of old, with true love seeded eternal. What lovely thoughts. Such a wonderful poem to share. Joy L. Hale
