 Flickered Out

The light is so much dimmer now

Only half of what was once aglow

Ask myself if it was fate or destiny

I guess I’ll never really know

One minute it was burning brightly

Then perhaps an icy draft did blow

Alone is such a lonely light to be

In the darkness we all know…

I love candles too, and I don't like the darkness it leaves
behind when it melts to the ground. I have enjoyed your poem this evening Felix, I pray the light of God never leaves your side.

For those of us who live long, these kind of things either creep upon us or come all of a sudden when we least need or expect it. Such is life. Makes one want to live fast and die young.
