growing older

I walk into sand,

water between my toes. 

Wild birds wave hello.

 

I am alone,

I breathe.

I am older, 

I see.

 

In an ancient bed 

of leaves

I know 

all that lives

will one day go.

You make me wish I could walk, barefoot, either on the sandy shore or along a trail littered with ancient leaves. Being close to life that always dies but leaves a nostalgic residue to remember us by.
