Thoughts for the longest day of the year. Written in early spring, this is still potent I think...

Beyond the fear is anticipation-feel it?
Something moving, inching forward.
Stormy winds break dead branches
and sweep away old leaves. The rising
tide crashes against the rocks. That
sliver of new moon that catches the
earth in it's slipper is getting wider.
And the days grow longer as we catch
our breath and exhale. The earth turns
and we follow her rhythm, needing less
sleep tho still in the last throes of
sluggishness. We are bears newly
awakened, rubbing the crust from our
clouded eyes, still shaking off that ghost of winter. Oxygen slowly infuses our blood as we breathe in possibility
and shed our tired old skins.

(c) Linda Gayton 2006

Beautiful insight Lin!

"Stormy winds break dead branches" an exceptional insight into those forces that cleanse the planet, and our lives, of the old dross to prepare it for the new.

Bravo!

This is a breath of fresh spring sunshine. We are all part of this earth and your poem shows the colors of life as does the seasonal change.

This is a great re-awakening poem that does make one notice what is going on around us. Linda you have a natural ability to share the passion of living and life with us and I thank you for always sharing that passion. Again, wonderful lines.
