I'm sorry for writing this again, but these words just came into my head and I wrote them down and need to share them.
Mother's Judgement
by Barbara Lynn Terry
I couldn't help these emotions,
and I just need to share them.
I'm sorry about the red, but
that is how I feel right now.
You are such a terrible woman, you.
Tell me just what did I do,
That made you send me away?
I sit here and cry every day,
Because you had nothing to say,
When I asked you why.
They wouldn't even let me die,
Because they said I had a whole life
To live, but it would be in sorrow,
As I live and remember all the strife,
You put me through.
You even disowned me,
Saying I could never be
This sweet girl in me.
So tell me mother,
Just what did I do,
That fateful day,
you sent me away?
Wow! My love for my children is so completely without judgement of any kind...they both always knew that. No matter what they do or don't do in their lives, I will always be there. I wish you had know that kind of love from your mother. Good job Barbara.
I enjoy reading this poem.I wouldn't blame you for feeling this way about your own mother. All children want from their parents is unconditional love. When a parent loves a child for who he or she is,a child can feel so good about themselves.I am glad that you can express these feelings and let out your fustration.Barbara,be proud of the type of woman that you have become. If your mother or even your own family members doesn't love you unconditionally and accept you for who you are, then to hell with them.Trust me it hurts when a parent would reject and judge a child this way,but at the end of the day,you can only be who you want to be.Most of all you should love yourself.
Sometimes, we never get to find the answers to these questions and sometimes it is for the best. It was for me. You are a dear and sweet woman, that generation divide can be painful and mystifying. When I looked at my mothers parents and studied their family, it began to make some sense. Then I let the rest go, it still wanders in, but without the pain. Warmth and Love to you Dear Lady, Carin' Spirit
This is so sad, Barbara! My heart goes out to you. I think you also have to remember that you mother was living in a different era than you and me, and some of the things weren't easily accepted during that period of time. If your mother was living now at this time and you were a little girl at this time, I'm sure she would have think about everything more clearly, and would not have sent you away. Times are different, and people thoughts were different then.
Learn to forgive your mother and move on with your life. Sometimes our parents made mistakes because they didn't know any better. Everybody gets to be a parent at one point in life, and they have to accept the role without a manual. Mistakes and misjudgment are bound to happen.
Wishing you well and happy!

You are strong now...you have LOVE and never look back!
When we are rejected by someone we love and want to love us the pain and the ache never end but it is often we who pay the price for not forgiving those who wronged us.
Bobbie, you got it out, now let it go and go on. Like Ike in my life, it was just a storm to most, but to me it was devestating because I lost everything. Now, I'm rebuilding, and am better than ever. You can pick your friends, but you're stuck with your relatives. My mom made me life a misery, but I won't let her spoil my golden years like she did my young one.
My memories as an immigrant professional woman in Ottawa, Canada 47 years ago. A new life after having survived the liberal war of a new country Bangladesh on December 16, 1971.
