Definitions are designed to clear things up. They don't always work that way.

                 Poemetry

Last week I started a new poem

And put it aside for lunch

Where a discussion broke out:

What’s the definition of poetry?

We whirled past rhyme and meter

Talked about language and form

Plumbed depths of meaning and emotion

I felt a queasiness in my stomach

Back at the desk, I discovered

That all my previous words

Had disappeared from the page

I checked software first

Searched memory and psyche

The acid in my innards got worse

As a last resort I remembered

A time honored remedy

And began a three-day fast

Gradually discomfort declined

On day two words returned

By day four my page was a poem

So what is a poem? Of course!

It’s your stomach at work.

absolutely. A sound message is grounded on the healthy energy, and the reasonable fast is a remedy. Cheers, alex

Hah! Maybe it is for you, Charlie, but I'm not geared that way. I get ideas for poems many different ways. When I decide to write it, I see it though until something I call poetry is born. Come to think about it, your way and my way are very similar. I just don't have my stomach to control my writing . . .

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
