Wonder, wonder everywhere and all the shelves did shrink.
Books-Mobile In the beginning there was a book A single, captivating tome Joined by another and another Together on a shelf until A chair beckoned a volume I opened a new book And it claimed a table Bedside attracted a third One day I awoke as A rare tidiness in me Ahemed at the multiple piles In a flurry books disappeared Or returned to designated locations Briefly I wallowed in neatness Not for very long Magically books appeared At their same old haunts And now at new ones, too Who gave those pesky books Such a mind of their own I sighed, returned to neatness Thinned stacks and shuffled But gradually gave up Whether in a reading mode Or the occasional ordering one Reading is a moving experience Charles B. I loved reading this, probably because of the familiar habit of reading more than one or two books at the same time. I love your struggle at keeping them neatly in their places--and failing. Your descriptions of your losing battle are wonderfully expressed.

yes, this nightmare is very much recognizable, . . as it engrosses many of us. This piece is a progression (and very hopefully, the final) when firstly a book (a canon of living rules) is perceived as a book; then it comes to be perceived as something else but not a book, and at the end of the day, again, it seems to be readable ;)) the way to enlightenment is a dark way, man. A unique poem on a subject that readers can readily identify with.

I'm not fond of clutter, but I always leave my reading out until finished and then put it away. I find magazines easier to read in books and we are having trouble finding enough room with the magazines away without throwing them out. ;-)

Agreed. Reading is a moving experience whether be comedy, love stories, soulful or horror, whodunit's or whatever. I'm reading, for the second time, "The Pillars of the Earth," by Ken Follett.
