Poem Artwork

It seems this year it’s me that must write
The other has lost his ability to recite
The fade deepens too much for expression
That which is in the souls regression

So without further adieu
Let me start this poem anew
It’s the anniversary of creation
Not just the one of visitation

It all started with a question of relation
Opening up the forbidden temptation
it moved to innocent writings of the Great London Detective
with nothing more than friendship being the main directive

Then the lost Island rose from the ancient seas
Creating a Dream making me weak in the knees
Messages to each were fossilized in the sand
Building the friendship to something more Grand

Emotions remained restrained and suppressed
Until the love of Searching was expressed
I still remember the smile that bloomed on my face
Staring at the message written in that wonderful place

From there a tidal wave hit this little Island of Dreams
pouring out never imagined emotions in caressing streams
My scientific mind wondered about the elasticity of the heart
thinking that all the love flowing into it would tear it apart

Instead it continued to flourish and grow
More than I think you will ever know
Later when souls “danced to the sacred rhythms of unity”
I knew this was a love that would stand always with impunity

Even though the Island has returned to the sea
I have kept all the scrolls written from thee and me
They all belong to the yearly Mash.Tab.Ba and Sim.Mah ritual
When hearts sing and souls fly in what was and is perpetual

Granted this is not my usual Gumyish style
but I have not been let out in quite a while
Old Grumpy Ed may have cast me aside
But my heart will always hold you inside

Standing On My Knees by Pinkstone

I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work. I wanted to purchase a sukiyaki sub. I parked my car in an area of
