Catch a Train... Catch a Train... Catch...

I always loved train stories at a kid. Here is a poetic story that has a bit of train humor with a spark of adventure. Enjoy!

Catch a Train... Catch a Train...

 

Click-a-tee-clack we are traveling on the railroad track

We hopped on board and we are not worried about going back

 

Catch a Train... Catch a Train...

Hear that big ole whistle blow; a chug-a-chug-a chew

Smell that coal a burning; it smells like burnt barbeque

 

Catch a Train... Catch a Train...

I saw a Hobo hitch a ride, he is now on board; he is my friend

That’s good old Bernard Bend; he likes to ride the train till the very end

 

Catch a Train... Catch a Train...

The smoke cloud is so thick, you feel and can taste the ashes of hot air

We love the adventure of exploring  new horizons as we travel without a care.

 

Catch a Train... Catch a Train...

Puff -a - puff- a - chew my eyes are burning from the smoke and ash along the way

We can’t wait until we get there; where ever, it should be nice, we hope... we pray....

MY GRANDSON LOVES HIS TRAIN SET AND I ENJOY WATCHING HIM ENJOY IT. BUT, OF COURSE, ME AT NEARLY 69 AM REMINDED OF ANOTHER 'TRAIN'. IT NEVER CHANGES DIRECTION BUT CHUGS ON THROUGH DRY WILDERNESSES AND OVER ROUGH, RUGGED ROADS AND THROUGH ALL KINDS OF WHEATHER...MAKING MANY STOPS ALONG THE WAY, WHERE...SOME GET ON AND SOME GET OFF. IT IS MY HOPE AND MY PRAYER THAT IN THE END... WE ALL WILL REACH OUR FINAL HEAVENLY DESTINATION. 'CATCH A TRAIN...CATCH A TRAIN...' A FINE WORK, JOHN, THANKS FOR SHARING. There's nothing like Catching a Train; always one of my favorite ways to travel cross country. I especially liked the old steam engines.

Kids would love this. Unfortunately, most of them can't experience real steam trains like I did as a kid. Fortunately, now with videos, one of steam trains operating in the background of the poem would really help young children understand what the words mean.
