It is my opinion that some things,lessons,achievements,etc., can only be accomplished as one becomes an adult(independent) and leaves home(the nest)to find his/her place in the world so that he she can make his/her contributions.

Even the birds know when it's time to kick the young ones out of the nest. Why are humans so reluctant and so willing to take them back when they let them go out originally totally unprepared from lack of experience?
What I'm referring to is the tendency to control every aspect of a child's life and not allow them to explore on their own. While I may not have been able to live on my own at 10, I already made my own decisions about right and wrong and had a good sense of myself… Responsibility.
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
