Black shirt and blue jeans, you call and laugh in my phone,
Telling me you’re nervous, and “Why are you never home?”
Wondering if you should get dressed or wait 15 minutes more,
Thinking of the possibilities – a freshly opened door.
You don’t like her, I can tell – and I feel a bit relieved,
I never would have thought these plans would force me to deceive
My feelings, my thoughts, my heart…
And now that we’re apart – I wonder what I feel
With rhymes that won’t make sense to you – ones that never will…
These thoughts give me a headache – thoughts that twist and turn,
With all that I’ve been through, you’d think by now I’ve learned,
That love does not exist. It never has, it never will,
But, still…
Black shirt and blue jeans, you dance all through my head,
As I’m trying to remember all the things you’ve said.
You don’t love me because love does not exist,
Except that night we laughed, and smiled…and kissed.
