A few authors here have talked about their childhood demons in a therapeutical kind of way, like, if acknowledging their existence of those demons long ago one can be free at last of them, then again when the soul looks inside the mirror there are those scars...

Poem Artwork

Wanting to escape from Pain Street I pushed
open, engraved with Sadness, an old door,
it opened to a cavernous menacing dark cave
made by artisans with wrought iron, a house.

Old door creaking like and old woman’s chair
closed behind me and I was back in a world
where Mother’s fear kept you so much awake
and a hard slap on your face the will of God.

But now I was a man, entering my old dungeon
to confront all my demons once and for all,
but the house retaliated my sight of contempt with,
from its white marble stairs, the unforgettable cold.

Generations portraits showing emptiness in brown,
so many children, so much cruelty no more,
time corroded the faces of so many torturers
like not even time wanted a record of their rancor.

To my right a door engraved with Forgiveness
just a little bit open my eyes suddenly saw,
was tempted for a moment to see inside but,
they had teach me well to never enter that room.

The ceiling with that stained glass of a fake sky,
then, to my left was the door I was looking for,
Revenge was engraved on its nearly rotten wood
and I kicked it open and went inside like a storm.

All that was precious to my ancestors was a piled
of possession, feelings, child’s screaming among
the rubbish accumulated century by century
until Hate becomes a religion, no worshiping Love.

I lighted a match and dropped inside the pyre
wishing the fire to consume the past, me, them, all,
but I retreated outside, to be on Pain Street to see
if Satan could be tempted to take with him the lot.

Great write Georg
One must face it's own fears
it no longer pulls me back
To times of old
I don't know how my father's parents
treated him in his youth.
I know one thing, the buck stopped with me
For I never discipline my children harshly
enought to scar them mentally
Nor did I scar them physically.
WE now as they are rearing their own families
Love each other very much with mutual respect
Peace be with you

William

Georg I believe a lot of us have demons in the closet, I'm just not sure if I would be ready to face them or ever will be. Thank you for sharing.

Intense portrayal...a door engraved with Forgiveness...just a little bit open... but enough for one to see a bit of Forgiveness in themselves...spite of Revenge.

A piece you thought long and hard about. Reaching into your soul and weeding out the bad. Demons will always follow, but with the grace and guidence of God the pain will be lifted......

Be safe,
Karen

We walk with you through the halls of a tortured, pained and hateful
soul, shuttering at the imagery you so vividly portrait in your poem!

May lots of Love heal your soul soon. Jasmin Horst

Pain Street - such a terrible, tormenting place for far too many souls. And a most powerful, heartwrenching poem, Georg.

I hope you're now spending many sunny days on Pleasant Street.

Georg,

Pain street: the reader knows they are in for a ride through a horror movie, a nightmare, and sees the hero--yourself--rise up, confront the demons of his past, to be triumphant. EXCELLENT.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Well-described imageries. George, this is so well-penned, this can be used as a scene in a screen-writing project.

Wonderful job in writing this!

We all have childhood dreams. Mine was recurring until I was into teen years and it went away on its own.

My recurring dream was that I had walked along narrow path and muddy fields, came to a very high wall with a small hole at the top of the wall, I climbed that wall and squeezed through the opening to the other side of the wall where I see people with animal heads. They were all standing around quietly in an open field. I was allowed to roam about the places where I see towers and temples. I went inside, there were writings and pictures on the wall, where they define what could happen if someone goes to hell, and what could happen when someone goes to heaven.

I then realized the difference, and move on out the towers and the temples and came back to the high wall, squeezed through the opening and came back to this side of the world. Walked the narrow paths and muddy field through the forest, and came back, awakened.

This dream I dreamt many many times in my childhood. I can remember all the people with the animal heads so well and the green pasture that they were in. This dream is still in my mind, even though I don't dream it now.

Just to show you that there are really heaven and hell. Otherwise, this dream could not have come to me so frequently in my childhood.

It is very good that you are able to write about this. Just remember that you had no control over this, you were a child. You knew nothing else but what your world was at that time. I have my own House of Pain, I will bet there are many of us here on the den....
Peace, Love, and Light to you my precious man,
