This one is for the little dog Rocky, the little three girls dogs and the litter of puppies that were lost to one of my friends, and after losing a dog myself, I know that my tears then were has paiful as hers are now.
They weren't just dogs...

Poem Artwork

Silence, one morning there was…silence,
her little friends were so quite, what for?
no one running, no yapping little puppies,
don’t want waking up in an empty world
where the only friends depending on you
just were there no more, they were gone.

Pets, many have parakeets, or gentle cats,
but no one can feel that great pain of all
when one morning wearing a big smile
you find dead all your friends, your dogs,
the ones you pressed against your chest
so both of you feel of each others, warmth.

My friend lost hers, you can see only pets,
I would see the only unselfish companions
the ones that her moody self sometimes
were the only ones that her tears understood,
my friend lost her friends on a freaky night,
they were not just “only pets,” they were love.

Pets are angels-and I believe we will see them again.
They have unconditional love. Very much sorrow in this writing. CarolHawks

Oh dear God how heartbreaking this is and your friend must just be so devastated. I pray she will find solace and soon be blessed with more of God's wonderful friends and companions. In my thoughts and prayers....

Be always safe,
Karen

Never mind the love I feel for our furry family of 4 dogs (2 of which are actually mine) and 5 cats. I work in a veterinary teaching hospital. The devotion people have for their pets (Be they dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, reptiles, horses, whatever!) is immeasurable and absolute. In this world where humans are growing further and further apart, animals are filling the void left behind. No, they aren't "just" anything. They are examples of perfect love. Rebecca

Georg,
I know the joy of having a precious 'family member' that you love dearly. My dog Blackie is my friend, always there when I'm sad, all he asked is some food and love from me. So sorry your friend lost her dogs. They become much more than just 'pets' but FAMILY.

Blessings and love,
~Linda

Wonderful write. There are no such thing as "only pets". When my beloved cat recently died, his continuance meowing and jumping on my bad is a silence I don't want to hear.

A song of love that should have been included in the psalms, for it is so true, and you sang it most beautifully, only a real Mensch would know. Love and Blessings to you! Jasmin Horst

So tragically sad. And anyone who says 'they're just dogs' must not have a heart or soul.

Very well said my friend, I had to "give up" for adoption the last dog I had, he was an Aussie sheep dog who we called Moose and had found him discarded and limping on a major highway. Living in the city we just couldn't stand to see him tied up on a patio all day as we worked so we allowed him to be adopted by an older couple on a farm who had just lost their dog. Tears rolled that day by both my wife, my kids and yea...me.

I think it's their unknowing trust and unconditional love that does it - we can't help but love them right back, can we? Ours are five cats and two rottweilers - Borgia (aka Lucretia) and Mephisto (aka mephistopheles).

Hope your friend recovers okay.

Poor pets, poor unborn destroyed in the womb, when we lose the value of life we lose true love.

Georg,

Oh, this hurts: to some, they would be pets; to those who actually have held one in our arms, they're family. Your last line sums it up perfectly. You've made me cry ... so sorry for your friend's loss.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *tears!*
