Don't cry on Christmas

A friend e-mailed me about the plight of so many soldiers, from Nam, from Iraq, from Afganistan (one of them even called them "cannon fodder") but nothing has been done or will be done until all those hundred of thousand of WE get together and start kicking doors down.
We have got no respect, see if fear can call their attention, fear of seeing their political career destroyed.

Poem Artwork

Soldier, you are old as Christmas coming,
you can look over your shoulder to the past
your buddies are no there following you
they died leaving you alone, one by one,
because it was in the plan’s of somebody
needing men falling for a little piece of land.

How many Christmas came on the front?
no turkey, just C rations, worms or a rat,
maybe a Dear John letter as a present or
a jerk telling you to fight with what you had
because it has been always the same tune
that now you can hear walking on Iraq.

Doesn’t matter how old you are now, today,
you will be old as me when you come back,
the joyful look of the young replaced be, the
wrinkles in your face will be not from smiles,
welcome home, a General would say,
“soldiers just fade away, they never die.”

Soldier, you are back in America, its Christmas,
no turkey, no worms but plenty of them rats,
but you can’t chase them on a wheel-chair because
you fought with what the man said you had
and not what you wished to have in battle, so,
please, Christmas coming, please don’t cry.

I'm speechless after reading this. But will try. I go to Lebanon VA Hospital often to take my cousin there for treatments, and see the wounded and the good men who have served our country in the past. God be with all the soldiers this season of the year. Don't cry, they are doing their duty because they want to and needlessly to say we always don't appreciate them either. May all soldiers everywhere have a good day on Christmas and remember their savior and their country too. That is hard to write and I think I did not do my best, but I feel for them and you showed your feelings in this write too. God Bless All

War- "The mad game the world so loves to play" SWIFT

Georg,
For some reason, war has found its use here, for to lie in peace is too dull to the multitudes of idiots, seething in their wants and desires!

If those that went to IRAQ thinking that they were soldier, find out that they were and are not, but "soldier of fortune" of the "FIVE BABIES" that play DBA as the Five Permanent Members of The United Nations Security Council, and an outlaw CONGRESS that allowed an OUTLAW Commander to send them to HELL... Yes, they will vomit their heart and cry...

I better talk about "Don't cry on Christmas": I admire the courage of its author. This is an outstanding poetic composition.

In respect and admiration,

Far too many of them will be crying this Holiday Season, and many of them will be shedding tears not only for their buddies, but for the plight of their families who have also been forgotten by our nation in our current horrendous home foreclosure situation.

We should all be doing whatever we can to help them, including as you point out - contacting our so called 'leaders' on their behalf.

Sad indeed. I don´t know when the horrors of war will end in this world. Greed and war go in conjuction and so long as there is smoke there will always be fire. Thanks dear George, hope men who send men to war will read this poem.

Your words of truth fall on deaf ears here far away
from the front,
I wonder if it would've been different
if their sons were there, in the front??

Georg,
This tells the truths of war and the battle continues on the holidays..on Jesus birthday...and always. Our young ones are now the protectors, as the new babies grow to defend again! Will the war and fighting ever end? And we surely cry each day for the ones fighting and we cry for the ones returned. For they never are the person they could have been for their eyes have seen to much.

Man the barricades America, take back the "WE" the people, and fight for those that fought for you, a great instrument to bring to the Whitehouse lawn, the Guilutine, I know it's French, but they brought efficency to revolution didn't they. Let's see who could we start with, I guess one could work up from the vice president, and see how that has an impact ha, Bless You Georg for writing this!

Dangit, George: you said not to cry. Freedom leaking from my eyes, then, in gratitude for those who've served as well as their families. You know how I feel; as one of the "struggling," this needs to be screamed into ears that have been deafened by greed (or at least signed). Enough is enough: and Keith is spot on. Only when convenient, do we remember. Your best, yet. Welcome home, soldier, and SEMPER FI!!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

A sad story on the plight of our soldiers who served us well in all our wars and our government neglected them shamelessly. Billions was spent on pork by our representatives but what happened to the Veterans programs that never received the money that would help make them whole again? They were cut not increased. lets see if the new head of the VA lives up to his word when Mr. Obama is sworn in.

As long as we send people to die for a patch of land...
We laud them as heroes when they're whole...
And forget them once the battle's done, unless for an annual flag waving day of national masturbation...
It's hard to wave the flag at corpses and paraplegics...
And without the consent of we the people, they'd still be alive or whole or both...

Fine work - certainly made me react.

Dammit, this rocks, Georg!!! Those Washington lawyer-types can take their "cannon-fodder" and jam it where the sun don't shine. We are very tired of seeing our brothers (and now our sisters) used, misused, and abused, for the sake of add-ons (pork barrel) to military appropriations. This has got to be stopped. We are soldiers who refuse to fade away!!!
