Today I love!

Each day I love, each day I hope
That this is what I am supposed to be
Each day a dream and today a love
Is this the one? It feels so good.

He isn’t a whirlwind making sparks flow
He isn’t a beauty that makes the blood flow
Instead he is a presence that persists
One, that is there, no matter what!

Today I feel his absence and yet
It surprises me that I care this much
I had sworn to never fall in love
And yet I love altho’ not like I had once!

For once I had loved completely and fully
And had devoted my heart to his goals only
And when his interest became more financial
And he thought it okay to steal what he wanted

I learned that I had to ask a dark man to leave
When in fact it felt like a real suicidal act
and it took me a year to get hope to survive
His leaving a slap that left my face and heart bruised

Each day I still seek his face among crowds
Ee’n knowing he has moved beyond my hearts concern
Each day I hope but for what I do not know
For I must not take him back, he is, like that no more!

My life has taken a much nicer turn
And God has been given permission to decide
He is a sweet breath of air to my soul
And perhaps a healing balm as it were

Today I grasp this last straw God has offered
And he will gain my attention today and forever
For he is not the fireworks offered by the last and yet!
He burns a quiet and steady flame that is not quenched

Could it be that he is the one that is promised?
Could it be that the last was a dark lesson only?
Oh God I stand here humble and meek
I want the next decision to be the best

So I leave it to you My God and My Lord
For my decisions made, have been only a mess,
To you I give the wisdom, the power and glory
I rely on your wisdom to make me content.

Today I love, a man who is a like granite
Steady In his faith, steady in his love.
I had prayed to God to supply me, my need
He did and I’m grateful and willingly agree

That he can make decisions that are more sane
While human senses can be blamed
For goals and wants that are not within logic
And make the person more crazy and discombobbled

Today I love a man who is only about loving
He has no agenda to achieve, no minds to manipulate
He has no reason to rip off this girls’ money
And he only wants, to be my true lover

Today I finally found something gold
It isn’t a treasure that is brilliant to behold
But a quiet and steadfast flame that’s right here
And I must envelop myself in its flames

For I am the object to be considered apt
For this love, this man, this act of Gods hand
Today I surrender myself to his wishes, his goals
And let this love roll over my soul

The words fall into a stream of wonder and triggers of the mind, so much shared, a day complete, trust given with heart.. Walt

Your poem is refreshing. Your poem reminds me of how this man came to by my husband. I left it in God's hands, and WOW - He did a great job. Of course, I knew He would. He gave me free will to make good and bad decisions, and when I let Him guide me, my love appeared.
