I can pay my own bills
and juggle teaching a few classes a week,
serving at-risk clients, and calm worried
parents down
but I still need you

I can buy my own groceries,
file my nails right right,
fly around the world
whenever I want to
and can make sure my
mentoring group knows
how to love themselves
without disrespecting
their own personal goals
but I still need you

I can kill a silly little spider
crawling on my white walls.
I can fix a computer by
looking at instructions from the box.
I can deal with the hardest things
in my life but I still need you.

I can be the best super
girl/woman/lover/mother
but I still need

...the love of you
your shoulder so I can cry openly
without worrying about how I look
...the strength of you
your comedic sense to lighten my day
...the warmth of your arms
just the wonderous being that is you...
...the essence that is you
...the sprawling of your spirt that sometimes
makes me laugh or cry

I’m doing all right with all my jobs
and successes as a poet and a teacher
but I still need....

I do need you
so don’t ever doubt it cause
I can do all these things
don’t mean, I don’t need
you baby
can’t do this life journey without
you complimenting me.

Never doubt your love
Never doubt the awesome beauty that is you.
