The Sorcerer’s Tale



The universe is filled with mysteries…
As many as there are stars in the sky;
I’ve spent a lifetime seeking to learn them
As my role in Eternity speeds by.

I am called a variety of names:
To some, I am “wizard;” to others, “mage;”
I’m simply a student of mysteries,
Seeking answers with each turn of a page.

While others embrace swords, or gods, or guile,
I seek the energies of time and space;
Mystic forces flow through this open vessel
And out again to make a better place.

There is much more to what most call “magic”
Than waving wands or intoning phrases;
Only the disciplined intellect grasps
That true knowledge is obtained in stages.

The masses fear what they don’t understand,
And shun secret truths which they cannot hold;
Thus, my mystical musings are hidden,
Lest fools try to become wise, and turn bold.

Natural force is not summoned lightly;
Those who dare to try and swallow it whole
Will themselves be swallowed without a trace,
Leaving the remains of a shattered soul.

Instead, by touching the hem of the cloak
Woven from the fabric of time and space,
I sip gently from the arcane fountain
And am filled with supernatural grace.

As the sands in my life’s hourglass run,
I go on finding mysteries to solve;
Each new question a touch of the fabric…
Each answer allowing me to evolve.
