The Warrior’s Tale

My favorite color of all is red:
The red of the sun in the sky at dawn,
It brings to mind the heartbeats full of blood
That will soon be drunk by the castle lawn.

The love of my life is a blade of steel;
Her dazzling smile betrays a wanton lust
For the song of combat along the side
Of the only one to command her trust.

Is it not a glorious day to die?
Each day I renew my courtship of Death,
Whether by Man or monster, I flourish
In a fight where I could take my last breath.

Let the weak ones use their magical tricks,
It matters not the subtle wizard’s guile;
My love’s caress between his shoulder blades
Will undoubtedly serve to cramp his style.

Let the cowardly ones strike from behind,
For such rogues will learn of the awesome speed
As my mistress splits them from stem to stern;
Learn this lesson well, and always take heed.

My favorite color of all is red:
The red of the sun in the sky at dusk,
It matches the hue of the fleeting blood
That spills from my soon-to-be lifeless husk.

Is it not a glorious day to die?
My courtship of Death will soon be complete,
My soul will depart for Valhalla’s shores,
And with long-dead fellows, I’ll take my seat.

This is another spellbinding tale, Robert -- I love how you weave in the mystery and magic of long ago. Very well done.
Love,
CJ

Robert,

I just woke up LOL and came to the Den, and there another wonderful peom from you. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Which one is my favorite? You KNOW I'm going to say all of them, but I'll go out on a limb with two: the priest and the warrior. They're ALL excellent, though. You bring the reader into a magical world, and I am grateful for the momentary escape. You have a knack for weaving believable tales. Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, and *kotc, kotc*, Karla.

You spin a magical tale here; it is flawlessly done and presented! Very well done, my friend, bravo!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D *kotc*

I remember this one; nice to see it again! :)
