When the simpletons
Smother us in platitudes
And worn out clichés,
When nothing makes sense,
And all around insult us
With contrived logic,
When emotions die,
And sincerity loses
The roots that ground it,
When the fruits of love
Become victims of hatred
And mountains crumble,
When the parents sins
Delineate a child's pain
And all turns to dust,
Then,
Beyond what I feel,
And what I hope to achieve,
Help me interpret
That mystical place
Where bending light into bows
Has deeper meaning,
Take me to the heart
Of dream where life sings gently,
And whispers are feasts,
Where dewdrops of love
Enter the hearts of seekers
Searching for answers,
When all that I’ve done
Becomes a wide open scroll
And Spirit unveils
All the foolishness
That I’ve committed reaching
For what wasn’t mine ...
Then, and only then,
Help me understand my place
And forgive my sins

and as Gene rightly says beautifully written
from top to bottom;
"...reaching
For what wasn't mine"
strikes a particularly resonant chord,
the rights we humans give ourselves.
This is top drawer poetry.

Every three-line group a gem.

I have only just recently learned this wisdom you write of..."All the foolishness That I've committed reaching For what wasn't mine..."
Less really is more, and when something is ours we truly just know it and have to navigate the oceans of separation no matter the cost. That flip side is so hard to live out also, but so necessary.
This is brilliant poetry.
