Poem Artwork
I will always cherish that
Blest season you penetrated my
Pregnant hodgepodge of phraseology,
With imagery and trust singing sweet melodies
Together with the swaying of all possibilities
As every construal quickened us and
Offered what was needed

Together savoring the
Fragrance of satinpod moments
Untangling all hindrances between us, and
Charmed always by a shared disposition
To communicate freely with no
Sorrows or regrets-
I recall your most
Debilitating silly moods
When you would ever blackguard
The political satirists, and, always, with big
Belly-laughs poke fun at the stylized tiptops of aging
Poetic tosspots, shaking their metaphors (like dice in a cup)
And casting them over the page in anticipation of
Some wakeless subtext appearing

Fondly I think back on
Ventures fresh breezes as
We purposed to protect ourselves
From controlling influences that could
Diminish our palette of singularities- Still,
Despite all we dreamed, and
All we purposed for, fate
Leant its course
In a way we’d
Never considered, as
Nothing could appease the
Menacing forces that raged against you

And on that dread day, after
Your final roll through the garden,
Having no grasp of the beauty, without
Touching the blooms or seeing the colors,
I could see your
Life-pulse lessening as you
Stared ahead with glazed eyes, and
As the last grains trickled through the glass-

And in that moment,
When the mirror cracked,
And life separated into angularities,
When all that remained was shards and
Impressions of a diminishing day,
You disengaged from life--
The beauties of it
The muck of it
The flow of it-- and with
A final sigh you smiled out blankly as
Your spirit took flight from all earthly limitations

...in an era of easy lines and glib goodbyes, the depth of this substantial verse resounds like a charge of lights, a brave brigade of 'best moments' brought out to survey in a final farewell that never nods, never winks, never glances, but always looks up, even as it looks back, with steely, uncompromising, unwavering eye. Simply the best, better than all the rest.

I’ll be lucky just to catch
a glimpse of life's hazy outline
before I have a chance
to leave this dream
and wake up forever

a powerfully scripted synaptic journey ... profoundly moves the mind's muscles ...

This has twenty five dimensions in my eyes. There is substance here that largetly elevates human life on earth. "The flow of it - and with/A final sigh you smiled out blankly as/Your spirit took flight from all earthly limitations" I value those words beyond earth worth. Thank you . ~~ Diana

Such writing comes not from learned technique, or studied poets of greater renown. Such comes where it must come from, that inner voice that regardless of circumstances, must be expressed, lucidly, honestly and without concern for those who might sense the intellectual, passionate, and extraordinary essence of such a relationship as... well... frightening. Yet, for the one who experienced it, there is no other way to explore its importance. So, to those of us identifying with the exceptional lack of sentimentality, the generous willingness to pose a piece of reality most would find, well, I said it before, frightening... kudos, my friend. Truly worthy of cutting and pasting for a reminder to those of us there, with you, and now, of you and your memories. Thanks you.
