Where ocean stops and earth begins,
Amidst swaying trees on fragrant winds,
Across broad meadows of colored bouquets,
I saw her eyes glistening with tears.
.
Beneath these shifting drifting clouds,
When oft time stills and dreaming begins,
We walk these paths with minds at ease
And share our hearts most tenderly.
.
On supple wings of windswept thought,
Infused with sounds of honest refrain,
We echo (as one) in sublime convergence,
Lauding those moments of ageless example.
.
Such love can never be presumed
Such love will never be contrived
Such love seeks the paths less traveled
And offers us more than we could ever give.
.
With hands enlaced together as one
Ambling new byways on feathered tread,
Along high knolls of oceans indifference,
I saw in her eyes the spirit of faith.
.
Not knowing this life or what it may bring,
I embrace this notion of (two souls) aspiring,
In soft-scented valleys of comfort and hope,
I cling to you always, my vision, my joy.
.
As the setting sun extends dark shadows,
Within those dreams that once brought fire,
Two souls now sing the sonnet of mourning,
But embrace in the poise of tomorrow’s desire.
.
Such love can never be measured
Such love will never be deprived
Such love seeks those paths rarely taken
And offers us more than we could ever give.

True love is not a strong, fiery, impetuous passion. It is, on the contrary, an element calm and deep. It looks beyond mere externals, and is attracted by qualities alone. It is wise and discriminating, and its devotion is real and abiding.

And offer us more than we could ever give."
These two lines that end the poem clearly sum up the true essence of what "true love" really is. Well done. John
