An insightful poem on writing poetry. We create in different ways. I am one of the poets who seek to write what's in her mind but doesn't yet know all the fancy techniques of a poet. I am still learning.

I think you can count yourself among those dedicated poets who have all the accoutrements required in the last stanza.

I don't qualify because I dash off my poems quickly without regard to any careful positioning or concern for urging anything except, perhaps a thought expressed.

Some can, some cant, and some get e for effort, and i'm sure I've been all three. And I learned a new word, Grok. I thought it was a typo until I looked it up. Thanks for sharing this unique piece.

Every poem, whether it's a hit or a miss, is depending solely upon its readers' perception. If your readers like what the poem conveys it's a hit. If no one likes its rambling, it's a miss! I have no interest in reading some self-proclaimed shrink in this authorsden. Their ramblings bug me and there is NOTHING POETIC about that type of "who think they know it all" rambling, and their expression is NON-EXISTENT!

Gotta get it out of my chest for that idiot who has no life of his own!

GRANTED, SOME ARE, OF COURSE, MORE NOTABLE AND WELL-READ THAN OTHERS AND THAT IS ALL GOOD AND WELL. HOWEVER, ONE SHOULD NEVER FORGET THAT 'EVERY WORD AND SYLLABLE' OF A POET, NO MATTER WHO OR WHERE THEY ARE, OR THEIR POSITION ON THE POETICAL LADDER(TOP OR BOTTOM), IS A 'PART' OF THEM, INDEED, IS A 'PIECE' OF THEM. THUS, EVEN IF WHAT THEY SAY OR HOW THEY SAY IT, IS NOT TO ANOTHER POET'S LIKING OR NOT PENNED AS WELL AS ANOTHER WOULD HAVE PENNED IT, THE EFFORT OF SHARING THEIR VERY 'BREATH' SHOULD BE RESPECTED AND APPRECIATED SIMPLY BECAUSE OF WHAT IT IS; A PIECE OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING'S SOUL...ANOTHER HUMAN BEING'S LIFE.

You have laid out here in this poem an interesting approach and perception about the adventure that is poetic writing. To me, it's all about the reader, how can I create something that the reader not only wants but needs to hear. I think you alluded to this at the end of your poem. Very interesting. Intrigued.

Yep, I'm with Odin, in that your last stanza is by far the best of the bunch. Love how your instructive thoughts give the reader (me) a blue print on how to go about searching and unearthing those treasured gems.

And... as you posit in your final stanza, you are indeed one of those who "...urge reflection, insight, awareness...". Would that more were of the mind you shine your wordsmithing-light on in this honest and sincere perception of what we poets should all aspire to. Bravo!
