escaping destructions throat...

by Richard Lloyd Cederberg — Read all 280 poems by Richard Lloyd Cederberg

If I only based what I did on what I felt, I would systematically alienate myself, and most everyone around me…

Poem Artwork
It’s not about what I feel,
it’s about what I hope…
purposing
now to try and avoid
rehashing the negativity
bombarding my eyes and ears,
and avoiding (at all costs)
the rampant spirits
of hatred
fear
anarchy
destruction
social unrest, and the new
pandemic of cognitive dissonance
swarming around us like shit-flies…

More than ever,
I hope to depart
this arrogant lowland, as
desperation circles overhead
with sharpened talons, or ascends
suddenly from the depths,
open-mouthed,
ready to devour any
little thing that isn’t prepared…
.
Now, more than ever,
I desire to push past
this political warzone…
to retrace where
the pure water went
after it rushed beneath
the bridge, to know
where the
good seeds went
after the wind whisked
them into abstractions, to
avoid the hateful dramas that
separate us into cultural, spiritual,
and ideologically homogenous enclaves, to
condemn the irrational exuberance of morons
who flip-a-finger at a resurging C-19 pestilence,
to escape the raging war between what Truth is,
and all those other corrosive voices smothering
us in the rotting stench of political hubris…
.
From now on,
footprints, prayers, and
accurate words, are all I’ll
leave behind me… And
now, too, more than ever, I
hold fast to the One Truth that allows
my heart and my hope to deepen, as I cry out
each day, ‘Thy Kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth, as it is in Heaven’…

THOUGH I AM NOT QUITE PASS 'IT ALL', NOR ABLE TO IGNORE THE PAIN AND SUFFERING OF THE PRESENT TIMES WITHOUT FEELING IT TOO...OFTEN. I AM KEPT AFLOAT AND DO ALSO 'ESCAPE DESTRUCTION'S THROAT' BY MY FAITH IN GOD AND... NO MATTER HOW IT LOOKS... NEVER, NEVER DOUBTING HIS AUTHORITY OVER EVERYTHING. SO THEN, I TOTALLY EMBRACE YOUR LAST TWO LINES AND SAY...'EVEN SO, COME LORD JESUS!!!' ENJOYED AND THANKS FOR THIS SHARING, RICHARD. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

America is in a total mess, but Canada is not much further behind. I see a much different world in the near future.

Beautiful poem. The last verse especially touches me.. The Lord’s Prayer commands the earth to be as it is in heaven. Very powerful.

Shortly looks like the "eyes" and this one. And you certainly have dug deep to find all that is wrong with humanity rather than see a surging upheaval of people who have become fed up with the status quo and are willing to brave a new beginning, a new birthing of what the world will be like when we become more united rather than apart.

I choose the optimistic road. And I would caution you about retreating into the religious one. Throughout our history, religion has done far more harm than good.

BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THANKSGIVING, LET YOUR REQUESTS BE KNOWN
TO GOD; AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS.
( PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7 )Amen my friend, this to shall pass...

I don't know if its my emotional state of mind or your raw poetry but it actually made me cry. I don't believe anyone can actually read this poem and not find its pulse of humanity. As I release a sigh, I escape to hope and prayer. It is the only thing that makes sense to me. I choose to believe despite everything my " eye" sees, and my heart refuses to die in all of this. Thank you for always sharing words close and dear to your heart. I can appreciate that more then you'll ever know. Prayers and hugs, for a better tomorrow. Until then, be well xo

Indeed, we live in difficult times which you describe with precision in this poem, down to "the rotting stench of political hubris." It is difficult to keep calm and clear-headed, when all around us, madness reigns. I agree with your conclusion: "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done." If nothing else, that will be more than enough.
