Paint Me Your Heart...

Poem Artwork
This Christmas,
paint me your heart,
not with stroke of brush
or quill,
but communing in
windswept moments
exhaled from your eyes,
a time when heavy
thought
is put aside,
and yearning souls
converge in oneness…
.
Paint me your heart,
not with contrivances
or bearing,
but with hopeful
expressions shared
in life’s unending conflict,
a time when all
besetting gloom
is cast as fragments
upon a cleansing sea…

For if desire finds no dawning,
and longing lightens not a blacking land,
who then would see love as a rare flower fair?
And if two embrace a waning moon, before
sunlight becomes fiery in dawns eruption,
who could forfend loves despair?
.
So…
.
This Christmas, my love,
paint me your heart,
not with folly
or dignity,
but in anticipation
of goodness, when joy
supplants all despondence,
a time when
temporal strife ends,
and all sharing glows in the
wholeness of loves true intent…

Well done, Richard. In these few words, you not only describe the deep, rich joys of a successful marriage, but also mention how one is built, while looking ahead to love's full consummation which lies ahead. You are actually the painter here!

Expressions of love seem to mean more in these heavy days of the pandemic. Lovely sentiments, especially for this season of the year.

A beautiful call to put aside disagreement and enjoy the amazing colors of our lives during this season of goodwill.

Lloyd, you've penned here a most moving portrait of not only your love but of the innermost feelings of a man whose depth of understanding suggests his love experience has toed the line through ups and downs. The phrasing is beautiful and the message comes across like a very slow and deliberate embrace. Bravo!
