TESTING POSITIVE

The virus found us,
My wife tested positive
And then I succumbed
.
Coronavirus
Now up close and personal
Our newest challenge
Taking both of us well past
Anything we’ve ever known…
.
A storm of sorrows
Seethes in a dire pandemic,
Helplessly they die,
Virulent on a thin wire,
Dead flowers fill the graveyards….
.
PART TWO
MEASURED THOUGHTS.

A self-centered man
contemplates his circumstance
in light of himself
.
An alone man’s thoughts
become a refuge at times,
fueling his ego…
.
A child reaches out
for the sustenance it needs,
poets reach for words
.
Let poetry then
Be the writers revealing
Of soulish turmoils
.
Let poetry be
clear thinking sharing wisdom
despite naysayers
.
Let poetry be
a momentary snapshot
HONESTLY revealed
.
Let poetry share
What talking would only ruin
(Acceptance or not)
The art of framing a storm
Reflected in truthful calm
.
There’s some who should ask
whether they gathered the gems
of creative thought
to bring glory to self, or,
to enrich the written word…
.
PART THREE
POETISOPHICAL FRAGMENTS

Originality,
with zeal’s and fires and
fervencies imploring the senses
.
Artlessness, aspiring to more
than amorphous existence; the hearts
animation embracing fertile schemes
.
Kindred’s suspiring together,
a kind of wholeness tracing
the embodiment of persuasion
.
Espousing creative invention,
perceptual experience moving past
what was, into WHAT WILL BE
.
Highbrows posturing, looking
down on everything unlike them,
better to sweep the mind in long arcs
.
Specificity affirming the
intangibility of what arousal
spirits in all fairness
.
Thick clouds appear,
and bring to men a chance
to refrain from idle starwatching
.
Bequeathed once to
each soul, living echoes
of all eternities (preceding)
.
Writing
what is freely given
in the fragmented silence…

I do hope both you and your wife bounce back from adversity with renewed vigour, zeal and appetite for life again.
So sorry to to hear of your Dad's passing.

the grip of this virus that moves in a dark silence.
speaking to me of a struggle that many have gone through but only a few find the strength to write about it with such detail and hope.
Prayer for a swift recovery for you and your dear wife.
By the same token, your offering here is a tour de force in poetic expression. So honest and down to earth to project all that you are in a single offering.
I only hope that your acquiring the virus has not defeated your immune system too much so that you can recover and not have the ongoing aftereffects that so many are experiencing. At my age and in my lung condition, I doubt if I would survive being infected. My twin brother has already received the vaccine. I am waiting and not pushing to get it.
