It was there
suddenly before us,
seemingly out of nowhere,
the trailhead we’d been hoping to find,
a special path that would take us
somewhere we’d never been...
.
With no misgivings, (and
after checking our water and
provisions) we trekked up a narrow
rain-moistened trail through dense evergreens
and ferns - cameras at the ready - in search
of something we’d never experienced...
.
I found your soul
opening today
to myriad reflections glistening
on the ocean in an afternoon sun…
Out from us, the white-capped surface stretched south
along the coast and west to the visible horizon in
shades of greens and blues and whites...
.
And while the wings
of an eager heart unfurled,
I sensed her imagination quickening
as we neared the promontories crest. Here
northern breezes were influencing the treetops.
Swaying rhythmically, a choir of sounds
(as a whispering of ancient voices)
welcomed us to a place
known only to seagulls and angels.
Here too, encompassing us, an Elysian splendor
(imprinted with myriad involutions of life colors and smells)
held us enchanted in the eye of the Creator’s ineffable handiwork...
.
Today, my love,
two thankful hearts soar
together in this sacred place
where living seems uninfluenced
by the collusive tendencies of man,
as we flow in unity with creation, and
a sense of oneness prevails with Spirit...

Between the Cracks - A Monumental Journey Series
The only promontory I remember is the one at Santa Cruz. Without the beauty of Oregon fauna and flora. But I do recall coming down to the beach in Oregon three times. One time in particular, watching the boiling cold surf and seeing a man in a wetsuit surfing alone out there. Only to realize that it was a seal taking advantage of the particularly rough surf that day to probably catch fish while riding the waves for the fun of it. Nature is so grand in scope, isn't it. A shame not to enjoy and preserve.
