Poem Artwork
Michele and I
watch, as snow pure
streams worm down over
the grays and reddish umbers
of mountain granite,
both of us
charmed with the
fleetingness of shapes,
and how it streams freely
around and throughout all it
touches, and how the musicalness
of flowing water (to our ears) embodies
the wayward lightness of moments….

And as we test various
angles and shutter speeds
(Hoping to capture
the magic
of moments)
the flow suddenly
strengthens, and an
odd water figure appears,
sitting stoically staring at us shifting
in the briefness of streaming seconds…. Then it
.
becomes clear how
life moves in moments,
and how with each breath
there is constant action
in all things (visible
and invisible) as
nothing in creation
ever remains motionless….
a dance of moments
in the Creator’s
breath, in which life’s
greater lessons and mysteries
can be understood at times simply
as the moon’s reflection floating in
an old water barrel, or in the
heavy drops that form on
leaf tips, (as fleetingly
beautiful as a
mother's tears)
or how in each droplet
exist a myriad of microbes
and soulish reflections that all
surrender to the swish and swirl
of living’s ephemerality’s….
.
Life’s dance of moments fades so fast
the scent of time in mem’ry’s cast
reminding us of all things past,
the days pass quickly,
the night turns dark and vast,
but nothing remains… nothing lasts…

THANK GOD FOR THE MOMENTS OF...DANCE! THANK GOD WHEN WE 'GLIMPSE' THAT WHICH WILL ONE DAY BE BEFORE US FOREVER...SO PURE AND TOTALLY UNSTAINED. OH MY GOD, HOW BEAUTIFUL, RICHARD! YOU ARE RICHLY ENDOWED FROM ABOVE AND I AM SO GRATEFUL TO GOD THAT I AM ALIVE AND ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM HIS WORDS, THROUGH YOU, AT THIS TIME IN MY LIFE! FOR YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! 'NOTHING'...LASTS, DOWN HERE. AND, I'M THINKING, IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO. BECAUSE WE WERE FASHIONED TO YEARN FOR THAT WHICH 'WILL LAST' FOREVER, THAT IS...OUR ETERNAL, PREPARED HOME IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR GLORIOUS, ALMIGHTY KING OF KINGS!!!! THERE... WE WILL EMBRACE THINGS THAT OUR SENSES ONLY 'WHISPED' DOWN HERE. THERE...IN UNIMAGINABLE MARVEL, WE WILL BEHOLD WONDEROUSLY EVERY GOD-GIVEN CREATION...ALL OURS, TO ENJOY UNCEASINGLY(IS 64:4, PS 31:19, 1CORN 2:9)! SO THOROUGHLY APPRECIATED THIS KEEPER, THANK YOU! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Thank you Richard,
for this awesome presentation
Nature always leave us at awe with its
natural art to be behold and praised upon
One sees them in the mountain ranges
Where shapes of faces can be seen like Gods
Sleeping, I've noticed that while driving through
Arizona.

Thank you for sharing
Peace be with you

It's amazing how the snow would form the shape of a man. Nature is intriguing, and your poetic form creates the moment of its life. It's true the moment may change quickly, much like our lives: one moment is not the same as the next and we must capture the good moments and treasure them.

You are at your best when you write about your beloved quests to what remains of our fragile wilderness. The image you captured is very intriguing. Certainly looks like an eagle clad native dancer that I have seen in pictures. Reflected on the water?

Kudos for one of the best poems you've ever written.

Richard, what a lovely poem. Deep in meaning and emotion. One second at a time is all we have and they all pass so quickly. Soulful and thoughtful. Wonderful writing, as usual.

I agree with you on this, "time slips away and things don't last" but one thing does remain, your written word , that is for all eternity.
A part of you that never dies, thank you for always sharing the beauty aside the sorrow, your poetry is truly human, and I love that about you. Take care, stay healthy, be blessed by a God who never forgets :)

Such an insightful poem, full of measured moment thru the poet's powers of observation of water flowing over rock."Nothing lasts", and maybe that's a good thing, except the one thing that does last, the life of the Spirit that makes all things possible in the first place. A fine poem indeed.

An absolutely stunning and beautiful piece of writing,
alerting us to the constant movement of life…
Occasionally we are lucky, and witness the magic
appearing before our very eyes…
“a dance of moments
in the Creator’s
breath”
Nothing lasts…
but this poem shall remain long in my memory…

My best wishes, Diana 🍃
