With Tears That Fell Like Rain....

by Richard Lloyd Cederberg — Read all 280 poems by Richard Lloyd Cederberg

In loving memory for all the innocent children that were massacred at Robb Elementary in Uvalde Texas, and to all the parents, families, and friends that will carry this horrific tragedy forever in their hearts and minds. Triolets.

Poem Artwork
I felt you when the children died
The day left much unspoken
The suddenness and tears they cried
I felt you when the children died
I sensed your sorrow then and cried
Your grieving hearts were broken
I felt you when the children died
The day left much unspoken….
.
I wanted so to share with you
to offer love and sympathy
there was such need, so much to do
I wanted so to share with you
Could we amend this day so blue
With prayer and hope and empathy
I wanted so to share with you
to offer love and sympathy….
.
Everything changed the day they died
The loss left so much broken
The freely flowing tears they cried
Everything changed the day they died
I felt their sorrow then and sighed
Their wounded hearts were broken
Everything changed the day they died
The loss left so much broken….
.
We wept as one that fateful day
With tears that fell like rain
A nations heart was stabbed and stained
We wept as one that fateful day
Could we survive this loss someway
And move past sorrows pain
We wept as one that fateful day
With tears that fell like rain….
.

I live in Texas, but I can't imagine what those families are going through. Sympathizing with them will not stem their grief. Only time and acceptance that loved ones are gone.

What I can imagine is why that boy, about to become a man, would be driven to do such a thing.

Until we get a grip on what makes people turn into monsters and do such things with the ready availability of the firepower to do it, like many police forces are urging. With both psychological help and proper restrictions on military weapons in personal hands, incidents like this will continue to happen. And as repression increases for various reasons on certain individuals without help for their problems, like bad weather, it may happen again, and again, more and more until the whole country becomes more empathetic and compassionate than warlike.

Such a noble tribute over such a tragedy. It's hard to hear about, it's hard to read. With tears that fell like monsoon rain . . . !

I woke with severe mourning and pleading to our God, the heaviness I haven't felt since
9/ 11...I'm sure our heavenly Father weeps along with us in this terrible spiritual battle. .My heart is so in grief with not much words except prayers of His tender mercy upon our beloved nation. I know through this tragedy a cleansing will take place and a closeness we will be to His face and we will be protected by the Lamb. As we draw closer to the time Jesus is to return which is very close we must fully turn to Him more than ever.

This is so heartfelt and moving…it broke my heart
when I heard the News report yesterday…
I want to share with you also the heartbreak
that your country is feeling…and from us all
here in the UK…My prayers for those poor parents
and all those who witnessed this appalling atrocity…

With love to all…

There is so much sickness and cruelty in this world, I can't even begin to imagine the nightmare it must have been for those parents to lose their children in such a horrific way, thankyou for sharing such a heart deep poem steeped in love and sorrow, :)
