They Could Not Touch

This poem is based on two lovers. They had lived madcap lives that were. Arty is a bank robber and Andorra is a bar girl. Their lives were anything but acceptable to society. What happens when they find themselves in the after life? However they are in neither Heaven nor Hell, or are they? This is a fantasy but it is full of meaning. This is only part of the story found within the context of my book, “Immaculate White Smoke.”
Here is my poem.

They Could Not Touch

They loved each other with all their hearts
But though they were together they were still apart.
He wanted to hold her in his arms and show his love.
But there was a power looming above
This would not let them ever touch
Although they loved each other so much.
His attempts to hold her only caused pain.
Causing the sound of their agony to refrain.
Could they ever know their love like they had before?
Would they ever be together with the one they adore?
The answer really lay within their heart.
And their love would grow and they would never part.

Wonderful write...makes you wonder if Hell might be this way. Those that were unfaithful maybe near their love, but can't touch, those whom glutted, near food but can't eat, those that murdered near a murderer, those that lied maybe not have tongue...oh my this could go on and on...this write sure give the reader and the imagination a work out...Bravo! My entire family is western fans...my granddaughter's name is Jozie...named from a Clint Eastwood movie.

Thanks for the memories. I have had a love as such. I don't get many hits on 'To Dream, To Think, To Love'. I imagine because it is personal to me, but I felt a need to write it. We knew, but we couldn't touch. Other people could see, but we didn't violate it. Thank you for this wonderful and heart felt expression.
