He wandered through the woods among the naked trees.
A squirrel scampered across the path amidst the winter’s breeze.
The sky was gray with no sign of sunshine.
The only green he saw was an occasional pine.
The sound created by the winter air sounded like a moan.
He followed the path feeling neglected and alone.
Then in the wilderness came a voice that overrode the wind.
It was a glorious message of Christmas; a hopeful promise to send.
He found himself singing along: A song of Christmas and why we celebrate.
We observe this day because Christ came to save and not to berate.
The gray winter sky no longer depressed him as he followed the trail.
He found a joy in knowing that true love will prevail.
It was then that the sun burned through the clouds forcing its way.
It was then that he was reminded why we keep Christmas day.
He promised himself, come rain or shine to keep its meaning in site
And he cried out to the trees, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Have a blessed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
