A sleigh Ride

The snow always inspires me. It is a beautiful white and brings back wonderful memories of childhood days.

Poem Artwork

There are snowflakes falling all around me, brushing me upon my shoulder.

There are others brushing across my face.  They seem to be a little bolder.

There is also an icy wind blowing them around as I glide upon the snow.

The flakes keep floating all around me as down the road my sleigh ride will go.

I have dressed to brace myself from the cold winds bite until at my destination I arrive.

There I will build a warm dancing fire from which great satisfaction I’ll derive.

We will have toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate and roast hot dogs over the fire.

We will settle in for a night of fun and plans for tomorrow we’ll conspire.

The snow brings great joy and excitement and turns the countryside a glorious white.

Tomorrow we will ride the sleigh up the side of the mountain where we’ll find a beautiful sight.

The snow floats gently to the ground and then the wind blows it around.

The horse’s hooves and sleigh bells ringing are a wonderful and peaceful sound.

Come with me on my sleigh ride.  Come enjoy a glorious sight.

When the sun comes to shine across the snow it becomes a brilliant white.

Come with me on my sleigh ride. Come enjoy a glorious sight.

They are glorious, and I love snowy sleigh rides, too, a yearly tradition my wife and I still enjoy every December. I wrote a poem about sleigh rides, too - 'Snowy Mornin Ride.'

Very nice Lew. I've never been on a sleigh ride. Not too many of them offered in California *smile*, but you made me feel as though I was on one while reading your poem.
