It's About Work, Not Jobs

Poem Artwork

Workless

Two paychecks away,
from the street.
dream house in foreclosure,
nothing to eat.

Can't sell the car,
can't drive it either.
May have to live in it,
until we get a breather.

Days were so sweet,
while socially climbing.
Spend all our time,
wining and dining.

We'd retire early,
on our 401(k).
Let poor slobs work,
while we play.

Our life was based,
on a workless deck of cards.
Structurally unsound,
now but shards.

What can we learn,
from the stress we are in?
To get off our workless asses,
and learn to work again.

Hi Ronald,

Naked and painful truth. At 59, I could not find work, so I created my own job and am selling my products (and ideas) quite well. Enough to support myself and not beg from my government.

Ron, this is the reality of our society -- motivation is in short supply -- work has become a dirty word -- pride and a sense of accomplishment skipped a few generations of our nation -- the cure is going to be nasty -- you share much wisdom in this poem -- nothing of good or greatness is attainable from, "workless" -- much peace and love my dear friend -- Jon Michael

It's getting "companies" to hire and pay you that is the challenge. Not all willing to work are hired, yet when employers suffer economic downturn the "howling" is so loud. Perhaps Pres. Obama can pull an FDR in a parallel way... But you're right and blunt to the point.

No problem have I got with getting back to work, but after applying to over 200 different jobs and getting not even a bite it gets quite very frustrating...ed
