Sweet Bye and Bye

Once again, as I was waking up this morning, I got this idea for an uplifting poem and found that I had trouble because my voice system would not dictate "bye,” only "by." I am not at all religious, but thought perhaps that the phrase was from something I heard in church, so I Googled it and found out that there is a hymn by the name of, Sweet By-and-By, as well as a novel that has considerable readership. While I intended for the poem to be spiritual and positive, psychologically, I certainly didn't want it to have any connotation of being ordained by some other force than one's inner strength and living every day to the fullest. So, please don't misunderstand my meaning. I did not read those hymn lyrics or read the book or any other poems by that name, so I hope I haven't violated any copyright or borrowed from those sources.

Sweet Bye and Bye

Come with me and we will fly,
see forever from the sky.

From forever, there is no lie,
from forever, there is no goodbye.

So all you have to do is try,
and join me in the sweet bye and bye.

Join me in this sweet bye and bye,
where days, and years go quickly by.

Where dreams come true if you try,
clouds never obscure the clear of eye,
happiness outshines sorrow's ire,
and you can have your heart's desire.

There is a place where you can shine,
a place for us in our design.

All you have to do is open your heart,
and you will have a brand-new start.

In the sweet, sweet, bye and bye.

Bye, bye.

Definitely, a sweet, uplifting poem. I also don't know the lyrics to the song, so maybe you're safe. Honored to be reading you again; also, always honored by comments you leave on my poetry as well. Regards, Jeff Mason

Living in the sweet bye-and-bye means never having to say bye-bye... or should I say 'love' and 'sorry'?! :) Knowing how hot we are on copyright and intellectual property in our poems, LOL! Whatever your inspiration for these wonderfully soothing and encouraging words, Ron, they're as thoroughly uplifting as the swing picture you have chosen to accompany it. It gently lilts... you softly rock! Nice work :) xx

Before your explanation I hadn't thought of that song in 40 years. You have so much to say, I was just waiting for your Bye and Bye. I think that many times our words and the way we put them together comes from outside of us. You are a genius.

Uplifting and so very positive choice of hand picked words.
It matters not where it came from. I guess we are the sum of what we read, hear... then it gets in the sleep mixer and Hey Presto!

Didja know, Shakespeare stole many of his best known poems, sonnets and other works.

Ah . . . You've done gone and gotten soppy on us, Ron. Yep I remember singing that song in the First Baptist Church I was forced to attend.
