When times get rough, I try to hide from troubles and simplify my life. It never works. Problems always find me. There is no turnkey life, but I wish there were. I'd grab that key.

You are so right in suggesting that people "turn that key outward,"! I remember when I did and found out how much fun there is to be had in life, in nature, and in love. Beautifully written, Ron.

I never thought of longing for a "turnkey" life, though I'm grateful when one those sporadic "one" days do not present some sort of crisis or major worry.

Nicely organized and a very well-orchestrated poem. Let's face it, Ron. Nothing in this life is totally turn-key. Even when they say it is, there is always something that's not perfect for all of us to see. So until we go to the Heavenly realm and find out if there is a perfect place, we will just have to live in an imperfect world amongst others in this imperfect rat race. All we can do is the best we can, my friend. After all, were not Saints, just men.

I have never been one much for security; my life is a testament to that. As for the turnkey life, no, not for me I guess. Why, even religion, to which I profess, hasn't provided what you suggest in the poem. Still, truth is what it is, wherever it may be. Great poem, pushing many buttons.

Long ago I was fortunate to learn that without "safety, security too, no safety net, just a willingness to accept that life is far from a turnkey life. You've nailed it here. Subtext rises easily to inform those who may still believe in the turnkey life, without some downside, one can learn but very little of the upside. Kind of the yin and yang of reality. Loved this reminder of the "surprise" facing those who have never visited a life of the key turned outward.

Ahhh . . . Turnkey Life to guys like me means its a jailer who has the key and you must go through him to walk free.
