Our only real friends are the ones we keep close. I hope you have at least one.

Friends and Acquaintances Courtesy BrainyQuote.com Friends and Acquaintances From many acquaintances, over many a long year, few became friends, and fewer became dear. As a writer with great passion, one must have time alone. One's friends and followers, must understand and atone. Foes can become good friends, when an understanding is reached, but it takes courage to understand, extend a hand across the breach. Acquaintances tend to flatter, hang around for self alone. Taking more than sharing, like a dog guarding its bone. Through trials and tribulations, true friends tend to stay fast. Not giving prayers and platitudes, but real help that lasts. As the years go by, and old friends just die, it's good to have new friends, one can count on nearby. Fans are not real friends, they can make your life hell. If you wish to become famous, pay attention to what I tell. Acquaintances will come and go, but your friends will stay for the show. Well said Ron, I have few friends but the few that I do have I would trust with my life. As most writers and actors I have a lot of people who know me or of me and yes it doesn't hurt to keep a door open to new friendships but always remember who was there for you...

I have found real friends are rare when it really comes down to it!!!. Real friends you can call at 3 am in the morning with a crisis and they will stand by you thick and thin..Foes will only act like they care when all the while they only are interested for some worldly interest such as money or reputational pride.
As we get older we get wiser and we understand the beauty and treasure real friendship really is.

Very wise words rooted in a lifetime of experience with many people. These were things I've always known but didn't fully appreciate until the past few years. The end of my denial was painful but, in hindsight, one of the best things ever to happen to me.

I do, Ron! At this time of my life I can count on but one true friend, as he counts on me as his true friend.

Acquaintances are so many and are those of the obligatory "Good morning. How are you? Have a good day" kind that then, as do I go on our way until next meeting with the same obligatory greeting.

However, here on AD, I do consider you as a friend.
