On this day, we celebrate the Independence Day when we threw off the yoke of the king and his god-given right to rule with his church at his side, even with the Magna Carta limiting his powers. Do we really want another king to rule our country? Remember that at the time of the signing of the Declaration, at least 30% of the colonists were loyal to the king and stayed loyal to the king throughout the revolution. We seem to have a population filled with people with blinders on who don't want history like that reawakened even though it is true . Check your family history and see if you were a patriot or a loyalist back in those patriotic, but turbulent, times.

Domino

Domino, Domino, all fall down.

Get in line lockstep loyalty,

to the one and only, clown.

Mass consume the mighty word,

of lies and promises absurd.

Lazily let the promises cure,

your every concern, your fear.

Apprentice to the celebrity chosen one,

promising you everything under the sun.

Practicing his art of the deal,

it's from you that he will steal.

Don't you know you're living the lie,

puppets to the king of total deny?

Don’t you know that you’re the one,

fearing every conspiracy under the sun?

Nationalism in a worldwide economy,

paralleling a former German dichotomy.

A strong voice keeping everyone in line,

shouting his slogans in goose step time.

Don't you know you're marching to,

wrong Pied Piper's loyalty to you?

Your lockstep grasp will all fall down,

realizing he's only the wealthy's clown.

I am not American so I can't vote there or have an opinion on your country's politics. All I can write is I love your poem Ronald and the passion in it. I will write that I have always hated guns and violence, and it is ironic that Trump was almost killed by a young man with a gun when he so passionately supports gun ownership. Also ironic is Biden doesn't want any violent talk but said to his closest helpers they should make Trump a bulls eye target. Both sides might need to look in the mirror.Violence begets violence.I am very relieved that Donald Trump was not killed and so sad that an innocent supporter of him was killed,I am not a fan of his at all due to his bad morals toward women and guns but what happened to him by Crook was Evil personified . May God bless America and all those in its land ALWAYS🙏

Hi Ron, I am offended by your using my last name, Domino! LOL Well, not really. Name-calling, e-calling, and political blabbering have got to stop on both sides. Or else some idiot will try to shoot to kill because they are angry at the red carrot top man or have no brains. What is his name? Oh, it almost happened! Are you not surprised? Anyway, let's stick to facts and back it up with references, not rhetoric. Thank you, John Michael

There's something sad about clowns, and this king of clowns is the saddest of all.

The creative writers of our populace may we keep on writing…may we be appreciated as the point-of-view revealers choosing words to represent the awarenesses and visions we see. If the pen is mightier than the sword, may the only bleeding be ‘considerations’ about various points of view spreading like a healthy discussion back and forth into open minds. Key word is ‘open,’ and nothing closes a mind faster than not being able to find language that does not incinerate, or receive language that can’t be heard or considered. This poem of yours is a good example of that wise balance, the careful reveal of one’s own truth. I am with you here. I also am fascinated by reading the opposing voices to this viewpoint, and how clearly the opposing mentalities employ their language from the most basement-level chakra of human consciousness. I have a mantra for the sweeping and systemic social disturbances, both personal and public….it’s a five-step program I continually fail to complete to step 5: 1. open up my face (smile) 2. lift shoulders (stand straight) 3. be kind. 4. be calm. 5. be quiet. It, for me, is a colossal challenge to shift into this mantra. I’ll just keep trying. Thank you for keeping on writing, Ron ~~ djl

Yes, it's a pity that wealth gets the blame for so much of this domino effect... this court jester of deception. But... to know is to have the ability to act. So, ballot time is around the corner. Good choice of words in this piece.
