I'll Stay

I love to sit with you,
my friend,
to talk of blessings 
without end,
and joys that wait
"around the bend"
and oh, I'd stay

a little longer to renew
my first and foremost
love with you;
to praise Him,
as we're wont to do -- 
I'd love to stay!

But there's a road
for me defined;
on my lone road,
oft-times maligned,
but Christ will ease
my weary mind; 
I cannot stay.

The time will come
to meet again
and talk of Him,
as we did then,
and lift His Name
as voices blend
at break of day.

So hinder me not 
from traveling on;
the Morning Star waits --
the holy Son.
He will welcome us home,
each one --
and there I'll stay.
