Lunch meat from Souden's with bread bought from Merle
Candy from Berger's for each boy and girl
Run up to Egick's, don't stop on the way

               Bunk beds to sleep in but just one 2-wheeler
               Growing and laughing and looking ahead
               Remember the bully Sue hit on the head?

Neighbor kids: Jacob, Margie, shelley, Kissy, Greg, Sue Dilliplane, Tricia, the alley gang
Dogs: Trixie, Sally, Rusty, Taffy, Spook, Bruno
Stores: Souden's corner grocery, Berger's candy, Egick's grocery, Merle Beaver the "Variety Bread Man" had a grocery store in a truck, driving from house to house (also was an old family friend)
Oliver Greene was a radio preacher.  I always listened to him while we were having lunch, which was often toasted cheese sandwiches.  In those days, the kids came home for lunch, because Ferndale school was only a few blocks away, and they got an hour for lunch.  Those were the days!
