He means so much to me! These few lines only touch one facet of the man I married. He is my other half, my friend, my sweetheart, my confidante and my sparring partner. He has served me as a defender, a nurse, an encourager; and he straightens me out when I lose my way in a store or on the road. He bosses me in MY kitchen, bakes wheat bread just for me, serves me hot tea, and has the opposite opinion of everything that comes up. We've been navigating the sea of life together since we were about sixteen, and as Mr. and Mrs. since we were both nineteen.
Happy Anniversary, Bill!
I love you so much!

MY BELOVED COUNTRY BOY

Today's a special day for me,
so let me share my joy;
I've been married 47 years
to a 19-year-old country boy!

Oh, yes, his hair is silver now,
with a bare spot on the top,
and passing time has slowed him down,
but it doesn't make him stop!

He cleans the pond that he designed
and ringed with heavy rocks.
He digs deep holes for planting;
fragrant flowers are his crops.

He bakes the bread and mops the floors,
and paints the front porch rails;
When one of the "kids" needs expertise,
they call Dad--it never fails.

"Why do they always call me?"
he asked of me the other day;
"Well, Honey," I answered with a smile,
"you always know the way!"

Whether it's baking a blueberry pie,
or a new floor to install,
whatever the problem that comes up,
he seems to know it all.

(The only thing that Bill can't do
is write a rhyming poem,
so you see, there's a place for me to fill
in this, our happy home.)

We've been together a lot of years
through sorrow and through joy,
and I thank the Lord for the day I met
my true love,  my country boy!

"My beloved one is tanned and handsome,
better than ten thousand others!"
(Song of Songs 5:10 - Living Bible)

Such a warm and loving tribute, enjoyed this write my friend. My country boy was 19 and I was 16 when we married, we've been married nearly 28 years now and still holding on! Congratulations on the joyous anniversary of 47 years! Very few people today can say that they have reached their tenth anniversary...marriage has become a thing of convenience not a lifetime commitment as it was meant to be...an inspiration for many!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

I know one thing, I'll bet you sure can bake. Country boys are the greatest, gentle and most honorable.
