The tragedy of suffering was forgotten instantly as you entered the presence of the King; And I, now left behind, could almost hear you lift your voice, and praises to the Savior joyous sing!
But oh, the depth of loneliness, the overwhelming grief, that suddenly was thrust upon my heart! The focus of my love -- the one with whom I shared my life -- was taken; my poor soul was t o r n a p a r t.
As each day dawns, and I awake alone, I look above and pray that God will strengthen me anew; Healing will come, they say -- I'll laugh again -- but you're not here, and as each day goes by, I think of you.
"...it was our grief He bore, our sorrows that weighed Him down..." (Isaiah 53:4 LB)
"For Jesus the Son of God...has gone to heaven itself to help us; therefore let us never stop trusting Him. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses... So let us come boldly to the very throne of God and stay there to receive His mercy and to find grace to help us in our times of need." (Hebrews 5:14, 15, 16 LB)
He is not gone, he lives in your memories. This is so beautiful it made me cry. I can feel your loss with every line, but I know that he is with you, you just can't see him. I pray for comfort for you and the blessing of remembering all of the good times and none of the bad. In time, your soul will mend. But you will always remember and that is good. May God's blessings pour out on you as from a waterfall. A beautiful, tragic piece, wonderfully written.

There comes a time in our life when we have to journey to the other side. Which other side is the important question. Your poem goes beyond the obvious, Connie. It hammers at the door of one's heart with a message so strong, one can't help but hear the words: "Do you know where you're going, My child? Have you made the choice?"
God Bless
Peace and Love

Very poignant write, forgetting is impossible, remembering is understandable and healing is gradual. One day at a time my friend. Bless You Always, Paul.
IMHO this is a piece about rejoicing, not grief, even tho we do grieve that a loved one is no longer with us. But we also know too, that this loved one is with God, his son Jesus and all of the angels of heaven. When we know this, it is a time to rejoice because we know that we will be with our loved one, when it is our time to go home.
Connie you have penned a beautiful tribute to your brother-in-law, as you quoted from Isaiah 53:4, and Isaiah 53:5 continues saying: "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our inquities, the punishement that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5 New International Version, page 515, paperback).
Jesus gave his mortal body, so his soul could go to the father, and be our guidance through this life. Your brother-in-law is now with him in heaven, and watches over you and the rest of your family, as well as the rest of us still here on earth.
Thank you so much Connie for sharing this beautiful, heartfelt tribute from deep in your soul.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), sister Barbie
Dear Connie.. You have written a heartfelt poem for your brother in law. Its a special gift to be able to do that. Love can transcend death . Its glory remains in one heart forever....M
I need to comment here, and assure you that it was another's grief I wrote about.
A dear brother-in-law asked me to write a poem for him to put in the newspaper as a memorial when his wife died. I learned a lot about grief in the next few years as I wrote several more for him. I would ask him about his feelings, and as he expressed them to me, it helped me to write from the perspective of the one grieving.
Thank you, Barbara, Karla, Joyce and Victor for your heartwarming words. I know when I need prayers and loving counsel, you will be there for me and I am very thankful for you.
Connie, my heart is sadden today as I read this beautiful tribute to the one you loved for so many years. Lean on the shoulders of the One who is always close by and He'll bring you peace in the darkness of your hours. You will be in my prayers. Keep writing as much as you can because that is the greatest therapy for the soul.
Dear Connie,
Your lovely poem sounds very sincere. I am so sorry if this is so. God bless and comfort you....joyce

Death of a loved one brings many days (sometimes years) of grief. But we must remember that the one who passed away is in a better place. That should at least be a consolation.
I met Jerome on a busy city street in Baltimore, Maryland, when he was forty-five years old. On that particular day, I was out and about, enjoying a much-needed day off from work.
