Bill and I are still traveling together, day by day, so this poem is not a memoir for him. It just set me to thinking.
So many long years, how can it be?
But the end will never come for you -- and for me
Our love has borne much fruit as seasons swiftly passed
As a mighty, weathered Oak, it promised to last
Now time has severed bonds that tie us to this earth
'Tis now the heart reveals the treasure for its worth
Though parting separates us, mere death will not abide
Once more, we'll walk together, in heaven side by side
Indeed those in Christ will. Godly fruit in a marriage is one of the signs that a couple is firmly attached to the eternal roots. Amen. A delightful classic feel to this, Connie. Sorry. A humorous quote just surfaced in the pond between my ears: "Marriage is a relationship in which one is always right, and the other is the husband." Hahahaha.
